As it turned out, the opposite happened. Email filters from ISP's now block a large amount of legitimate messages, which they call "false positives".

Marketers can't send the text they would like to send to their subscribers, so they have to resort to filter tricking tactics such as spelling the word spam as sp@@@M so that they can get past the filters that were intended for another purpose entirely.

In a climate like this, legitimate companies that had been diligently following best practices, and keeping their lists clean for years, suddenly did not want to stay in business with ambiguities in the law and the potential litigation that might ensue even if all the rules WERE followed, so many companies just folded.

However the people that continue to send email illegally did not fold.

Often times sending from outside the US borders, they stepped up their operations even more, to the point that there is almost no truly legitimate bulk email left.

In other words, the signal has become lost in the noise.

The simplicity is this — bulk commercial e-mail has gotten to the point where it isn’t effective. We just don’t do it anymore. What’s the point? It doesn’t get a response, and we found people are overloaded with advertising messages and no longer willing to receive more, especially in their inbox, unless they specifically asked for it.

As a marketing professional, the only thing that should count for you at the end of the day is effectiveness. Bulk commercial e-mail has turned into the above, a bunch of unprofessional, ineffective scams.

Again be careful not to disturb the fish. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after handling the aquarium. Lastly, check the manufacturer's recommendation on filters and change them accordingly. Filters collect any fish waste or left over food. They can't function properly unless they are clean.

Introduce hardy fish to a new tank. These fish can withstand higher nitrite levels that are present in a new aquarium. Choose fish such as danios, barbs, gouramis, and live bearers. Don't add more than three to four small fish per week. Acclimation times vary per species, so check with your retailer before adding any other new fish.

The topbar beehive is not a new concept. Historical reference to the top-bar hive date back to the 1600's. Most of today's top bar bee hives are derived from work in the 1960's. Why doesn't everyone use top bar hives?

The top bar hive is not designed for maximum honey production, although there have been reports otherwise. For the hobby beekeeper a few pounds less honey are well worth the ease of management. You will harvest more beeswax with a top bar hive though. Any hobbyist should have more of an interest in keeping healthy bees than in squeezing out a few more pounds of honey from a stressed, overworked colony. With just one top bar hive, you will still have more than enough honey for your whole family and friends.

• Draw a large number on a piece of paper and encourage your child to transform the number into his favorite animal, food, person or imaginary character.

•Involve your child in measuring ingredients when you cook or in figuring out if a container is big enough to hold her toy cars and blocks.

•Ask your child to count each apple slice or pretzel while dividing snacks onto two plates to share with a sibling or friend.

• When you ask for something, ask for a certain number. ("Can I please have five crayons?")

• Count together daily; count cars, trees, homes, stoplights. Each day, add a few numbers to your child's vocabulary.

• Teach fractions by cutting a whole sandwich in half and then in fourths, showing the relationship between "whole, half and fourths" - and then have your child put the sandwich together as a whole.

• Hands should be washed for a minimum of 10 seconds. Have your child count to 10 or 15 each time he washes his hands.

• Teach the logic of adding numbers. As she progresses, teach your child to count by twos, fives and tens.

• Talk about the shapes on a tiled floor. If you look at them one way, they're squares; if you look from a different angle, they're diamonds.

• Help him to see counting as a pattern and predict what comes next by asking such questions as, "We're reading page six in our book now. What will the next page be? What was the page we just read?"

These easy activities can build the foundation for an appreciation of numbers. In addition, you'll be delighted to see your child demonstrate creative reasoning, knowing you have stimulated it.

A family affair for hair

Out of the hundreds of procedures he performs each year, the last thing hair-transplant surgeon Dr. Robert Dorin expected to do was perform surgery on his father.

Robert M. Dorin Sr. had been losing his hair for many years, but few people knew how much it bothered him. Then, one day at a family function, the elder Dorin casually mentioned to his son that he was considering treatment.

"Given that it was a week before my dad's birthday, I figured it was a great opportunity to give him a gift that he would enjoy for the rest of his life," he said. "I scheduled a procedure for my father for the very next week."

On the day of the surgery, the two discussed the details of the procedure and what to expect.

"I could feel and see my dad's excitement grow as things took shape," Dorin said. "He realized just how much hair he had lost over the years and how much I would be able to put back in just one procedure."

The procedure required 1,571 hair-transplant grafts and took about 7 hours. Three weeks later, there are no telltale signs of the hair transplant. He should begin enjoying his new look in three to six months.

"Working on my dad was something extra special for me," Dorin said. "It was an honor to be able to do something that would have a lasting, positive impact on his life. It is very similar to the way his actions and support have shaped my life."

Mark of the beast

This article is one of a 15 part series on a lot of the main end time events that will be occurring - leading up to the visible return of Jesus Christ back to our earth. This article will be on the extreme importance that any Christian who is still living during the time and rule of the Antichrist - that he or she not take the mark of the Beast.

In the first article on this series I did titled "Basic Overview of Main End Time Events", I gave you the verse on how the False Prophet will set up a system on how he and the Antichrist will try to get everyone to receive the mark of the beast on either their foreheads or their right hands. The verse then goes on to say how no one will be able to buy or sell anything without this mark. The verse also says that anyone who will not worship the Beast will be killed.

Due to the importance on this one issue, I'm going to go ahead and restate this verse. I will then give you the verse on God's warning regarding this specific event. This verse is talking about the False Prophet and what he is going to do. Here is the verse:

He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. His number is 666." (Revelations 13:15-18)

Now here is the real scary part. God Himself says in Revelations that none of His people are to receive this mark of the beast. If they do, they will end up coming under His wrath that will be released upon the earth during the latter part of the Tribulation.

God then pronounces what is the most dire warning imaginable if any of His people receive this mark. He flat out says that in addition to suffering His wrath that will be poured out during these last days - that they will also end up in the Lake of Fire and Brimstone where the Antichrist, the False Prophet and Satan will eventually go.

In other words, you will go straight to hell when you die - no if, ands or buts about it!

Let these words sink in to your memory banks and don't ever forget them in the event that there is no Rapture and the Tribulation takes place in our lifetime. Here is the verse giving all of us this dire warning:

Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, "If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. And he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name."

Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus." (Revelations 14:9-11)

Notice the very graphic warning that God gives in reference to ending up in the Lake of Fire and Brimstone. You will end up in this place and the smoke of your torment will ascend forever and ever with no relief ever. This horrible torment will last day and night forever and ever!

Bottom line - all Christians who get caught up in this predicament will have to be willing to lay down their lives for God and Jesus. In other words, you will be martyred for your faith. This will be the ultimate test for any Christian to pass. I really believe that God put this warning in writing in His Word because he knows a lot of His people may get weak and scared if they are approached with this choice by the Antichrist.

But each Christian will simply have to override any fears or doubts that they may have, believe what the Word of God has to say about the matter and be willing to die for their faith in Jesus. If they do not, their eventual end will be too horrible for any human words to describe.

I have already done an article on the possibility of a Rapture. Hopefully, there is going to be a Rapture of God's saints before the Tribulation starts, and we will not have to go through any of these horrible events. If there is a Rapture, then the saints that the Bible mentions that will be persecuted will be the people that get saved after the Rapture occurs.

It's almost as if God may be saying to the ones that get saved after the Rapture - "You all had your chance to accept My salvation before the Rapture and turned it down. Now that the Rapture has taken place, you now know that My people were telling you the truth about My message of salvation. Now I will accept any and all who willing to come to Me, but you will have to prove yourself to Me by being willing to die for your faith in Me by refusing to worship or receive the mark of the beast."

If all of these events occur in our lifetime, I believe God will use all of us to get the message out to as many people as possible in order to save as many people as He possibly can from all of these horrible events. If their is going to be a Rapture, then it obviously is going to be the first train out, and God will try and get as many people warned, saved and on that first train as He possibly can.

But the sad reality is that there are a lot of stubborn people out there who will not accept God's free gift of salvation the first time around and they are going to have to suffer the consequences for not doing so.

Hopefully, they will accept God's gift of salvation through His Son the second time around after all of the saints have been Raptured - but then it will cost them their physical lives by being martyred for refusing to accept the mark of the Antichrist.

Pray that none of your loved ones miss the first train out if there is going to be a Rapture.

If by chance they miss the Rapture, let them know they are NOT to take the mark of the beast if they are ever faced with having to make this choice.

God the Father could not make things any more clear than by the way that he has the above verses worded out. Do not tempt your eternal fate with Him if you get caught in this predicament.

He means exactly what He is saying with that verse - and there will be no second chance to right this wrong once you die and cross over. Your fate will have already been sealed by that time. Heed the words of this verse - and do not take the mark of this blasphemous creature if you are faced with having to make this choice.

I had a friend in college who always complained that she had bags under her eyes. She never knew what caused it, but it had been that way for a long time. She was a pretty girl though, and no one ever seemed to notice. It may very well just be a part of who she is and it certainly did not detract from her good looks. However, if you don’t normally have this issue, and you have bags under your eyes that seem to have come out of nowhere, there probably is a reason why this is happening.

You can get bags under your eyes from something as simple as a lack of sleep. There are many things that can happen when you don’t get enough rest, and having bags under your eyes along with a purplish hue is just one of them. You may also find that you feel weak and your mind is not as sharp as it should be. You may not recover from illness as quickly, and if this goes on long enough, you might even want to consider that you have a sleeping disorder that you should have checked out by a doctor.

I have seen a lot of remedies for when you have bags under your eyes, but I really can’t vouch for any of them personally. Luckily for me, I don’t usually have this problem, though I can’s say why because I am often stressed and I really don’t sleep well. If you have bags under your eyes from a lack of sleep, however, I have a friend who strongly stands behind using a cold eye cover for a half an hour before you get out of bed. We don’t all have time for this, of course, but it can help. There are eye masks made just for this purpose. You put them in the refrigerator or freezer for a short time and the coolness is supposed to help eliminate the purple and the bags.

If you are a woman and you have bags under your eyes that just won’t go away, you do have the option of handling the problem with make up. There are make up products out there that are designed to help with not only having bags under your eyes, but also if you have blotchy red skin for any other reason. The make up works by using light. There are colors that you can put over your skin that are the opposite of the color you are trying to cover up. I don’t know the science behind it, but you can find this stuff in your local make up aisle. From what I hear, they work really well.

Xbox 360 dead or alive 4

The characters of Dead of Alive tournament are back in the latest installment in the Dead or Alive series, Dead or Alive 4. This title has just enough sparkle in it to keep the almost dead genre of fighting video games alive. While at the same it manages to fall short of mark.

Along with Kameo Element of Power, Dead or Alive 4 was one of the games I bought with the Xbox 360. When I put the game in for the first time I was awed by the smooth graphics that the game displayed and the incredible detail in the many different fighting arenas. New to the series were more interactive back grounds where you objects or animals would leap out and cause damage to your character. This keeps you on your toes when considering at any time you could be knocked down by something other than the opponent.

The game play is almost exactly the same and only a few new characters. At this stage in gaming technology and with the power that the Xbox has I feel you should reasonably be able to expect a multitude of different players to fight with. It seems like they skated by with the selection of different characters you could use. It’s in defense through each character has over 100 different moves. It is different but no really new. At the end of the day it is just a fighting game engine.

The real problem with Dead or Alive 4 is that is doesn’t offer anything new over the series. The graphics are better but at the end of the day there are not any new features over the last Dead or Alive games. It is the only good fighting game available on the Xbox 360. If you like the other Dead or Alive games you will enjoy this one.

Seeing eye dogs - a brief history

You have no doubt seen a blind person being lead across a busy intersection by a Seeing Eye dog. These functional companions have been used to help handicapped people become independent for years. Nobody knows exactly when the concept of a Seeing Eye dog came into existence but it has been suggested that dogs have been used in such a capacity in various cultures for a very long time. It is known, however, that there was no formal guide dog program in existence until after the First World War.

Why German Shepherds?

Many people have probably wondered why guide dogs and Seeing Eye dogs are so often German Shepherds. There are two reasons. First, the German Shepherd has a strong sense of loyalty to its owner, giving it natural protective tendencies. Having a very protective dog as a companion is an obvious asset for someone who may otherwise be easily attacked by someone with bad intentions. The second reason is far simpler; the first guide dogs for the blind and visually impaired were trained in Germany to provided assistance for those blinded in the war.

After the end of World War I, Germany was in a state of financial depression. Many private businesses failed and the Potsdam, Germany school that trained the guide dogs for the blind was one of them.

The Seeing Eye was born

An American woman named Dorothy Eustis had heard about the program and decided it was a very worthwhile endeavor. Because she owned a company that was training German Shepherds as working dogs, she decided she might try to train guide dogs for the blind. She did not start this right away, however. In fact she was still considering the possibilities when she wrote a story for The Saturday Evening Post about the potential for guide dogs for the blind.

A Nashville man named Morris Frank had heard the story and decided to get in touch with Ms. Eustis and ask her to train a dog for him. She did and Mr. Frank became known as the first blind person to use a guide dog.

As part of an arrangement he’d made with Ms. Eustis, Mr. Frank started training guide dogs in the United States. The foundation that Mr. Frank started was named “The Seeing Eye” and the dogs that were used were dubbed Seeing Eye dogs.

Today guide dogs are trained to assist people with many different disabilities. There are Hearing Ear dogs to assist the deaf and other dogs that assist the physically disabled. All of the people who have benefited from the use of a guide dog, however, owe their thanks to Mr. Morris Frank of Nashville, Tennessee.
